Breakfast Appointment

Ah Heng Chai agreed to have a breakfast meeting this morning to discuss on a proposed sale of land by a friend. He called at 9.10 am and apologised that he could not make it as he has another appointment to attend.
I thought he agreed to the appointment after looking through his schedule. Maybe other matters have higher priority that our appointment. I sulked but let not this matter destroy our friendship built over the years.
Things like this happened every now and then. Just move on.

"Now, everyone can fly!"

Last week, I was informed that there would be a meeting in Taiping this coming Friday. I dont mind since this is part of my responsibility and the career path chosen by me. Yesterday, I was informed that the meeting would now be held one day later which is on a Saturday, a non-working day for me and like what they say, a "rest" day and a day you should be spending time with your family. Inclusive of the travelling time to & fro, it would be more or less the whole day taken up. On the same evening I have given my commitment to attend a dinner in Kampar!.
This morning I was told that I would be needed in Cameron Highlands to attend a so-called residents association meeting on the said Saturday as well. I hope the tag line. "Now, everyone can fly!" would be true. Or else, how would you juggle up and be present at the various places at more or less at the same time.
What a weekend!

Dinner time

I hope my kids do understand that I need some space after dinner to help me with the digestion and not pile on the calories as fats into my body. At my age, my metabolism is slower and I need movements after dinner to help with the digestion and the burning of the calories intake. I am trying hard to lose weight and I do not want to go to bed within an hour of taking dinner. It is very unhealthy and more so at my age. It may be a walk in the park, a stroll at the supermarkets or hypermarkets or a leisurely drive to sightsee some interesting views. I give you a tip - this is the best time to buy things that you need. You accomodate, I accomodate. Please dont asked to be sent home immediately-you need to accomodate other persons needs in additon to your own. That's one of the virtues of life.
I request you kids to take this into consideration. Dont say that you dont have time for the dinner and asked us to "ta pau" for you. We appreciate your company during dinner and the little chat that we have - though keep us free from discussion over studies or brag to us about your so called achievements. Your mum may be more keen to listen to your achivements and the best time to do it is when she does the cooking. Either we have more tasteful foods or we are sucked!

Are we safe in our country?

The Home Ministry has asked for response from the public on its survey as to the safety of Malaysians. 97% of those who responded have indicated otherwise. I dont understand why they asked for a survey in the first place. Malaysians have not felt safe for a long time already and do you mean that they were not aware of it. You see how they have lost touch with people.
Do you expect changes to take place in response to the feelings of the people. Keep your fingers crossed. The first indication will be whether we will have a new chief in the PDRM in the not too distant future.

You need to have a life

I'm so cheesed off by other half that whenever a suggestion is being made, she would pour cold water on it or makes silly excuses not to go along with your suggestion. Surely, a compromise is one of the options. The fact is if you want to accomodate, there is always a solution. But if do not, then nothing helps.
Issues like kids having tuition, school activities over the weekend, monthly tests coming up and a lot of household chores to catch up with. Come on, all these are norm issues and there are not exceptions. Everybody needs some space for their own life and the key is you have to compromise!
YOU CANNOT KEEP TAKING WITHOUT GIVING!

Fair or Not Fair

Two guys, Chong and Akmey, bought an island and starting to work on it to generate wealth. Both are equally hard working but Chong leads a simple life while Akmey likes to enjoy what he earns and travel frequently overseas for holidays.
Chong saves US1,000 per month while Akmey spends all of what he earns and sometimes borrow from Chong to help him tie over.
After 20 years, when Chong's children grew up, he found that his existing house was not big enough and decided to build a much bigger house with a swimming pool, a karaoke room, a wine bar and a mini theatre.
Akmey was jealous and complained that Chong has got so much wealth and he has nothing much to show. Akmey wants Chong to share 30% of what he has with him.

Political Idiots in Penang

Certain youths of a political party lodged a report with the MACC over the CM non-compliance with their requests for details on tenancy agreement, costs of renovations over the rented bungalow and when to move back into the CM official residence.
These idiots really have nothing good to do.
I suggest that they go further and give an ultimatum to the CM and asked him to disclose within 3 days what colour of the underwear he wears from Monday to Sunday so that the idiots can keep track of his preference in the name of transparency and democracy.

What you should not do after Meals

The 7 Dangerous Acts after meal THE SEVEN DANGEROUS DON'T ACT THE 7 ACTIONS BELOW AFTER YOU HAVE A MEAL

1. * Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

2.* Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest. *

3. Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes.

4.* Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted & blocked.

5 * Don't bathe - Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

6. * Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

7.* Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

Language is like sex!

I pick this up somewhere.

"Language issues have some of the characteristics of sex: Everyone does it, and consequently everyone think they are an expert.”
“However, it is neither teachers nor parents who teach most adolescents about sex; rather it is a cadre of other adolescents mostly characterised by knowing little about the matter."

Sadly, our education process is politicised by both sides of the divide.

Ah Heng Chai

Ah Heng Chai is a good friend of mine and we do meet to talk cock every now and then and we also try to brag to each other about our and our family achievements. There is something that we have in common - we always complain about our partners and their shortcomings and how they should see our way of thinking which is always right!
Today, Ah Heng Chai told me that he is buying a new car and is now in the process of applying for a feng shui number from the JPJ. I did not ask him what number as he believes that if he tells me what is the number, then he wont get it. He is changing to a new Sonata. Previously, he was talking about a Camry. Now he says Sonata is a very good car whereas Camry has got a lot of problems as the quality control is not so good now. I should have told him that Proton is a better car as it is made in Malaysia and can acclimatise to the Malaysian weather much faster and being made by Malaysians, it has all the boleh qualities unheard of by other foreign manufacturers.

How Stupid!

Our DPM when campaigning in the Manek Urai by-election told the crowd that the BN candidate is a University graduate whereas the PAS nominee is only a fishmonger, as such the BN candidate would be a better choice.
How stupid can he me when over 80% of the residents in Manek Urai are fishmongers or their extended families. To make matters worse, the head of the Manek Urai fishmongers Association got their members to donate 40 barrels of fishes to each of the districts for the benefit of the residents.
Who do you think will win the election? No need to guess.

Teaching a Dog to Bark!

Dont laugh! This is a fact and I am as astounded as you are. My neighbour brought home a dog sometime back and as you know, dogs when there are put in a new surroundings, will feel uneasy over the first few days until they are orientated. They will bark or howl to show their uneasiness and esp so at night.
One day while having a break at home and watching the idiot box, I heard my neighbour calling to the dog, " Bark! Bark! Wou! Wou! Wou!"
This is something new to me. I dont know whether they are others who teaches their cat to "Meow!"
Sure, I believe in lifelong learning.

A Better Day

Sometimes things that you have not had for quite a while can give you a boost to your life. It is a stimulant and you do crave for it until the fun is no longer there. The cycle repeats itself and you cannot force it. Let nature takes it course.

Weight Loss Struggle

I am desperate to shed some weight but somehow it doesnt seem to work. I am grossly overweight and I need to get those unwanted fats out of my body. Pls dont ask me to starve. I have tried. It takes me about a month to shed two kilos but within days, I put them back again. My metabolism has slowed down quite a bit. I think I need less quantity but better quality food to give me the required energy. I am now on multivites and other supplements to boost my system.

Science and Maths Conundrum

Malaysia Boleh! We flip and we flop at regular frequencies that non-malaysians are at their wits end trying to find out where are we heading. The latest decision on the teaching of science and maths in English back to the vernacular language is the case in point. Mind you that this latest twist is a political decision to score brownie points and not really towards the welfare of the students or a decision made to enhance the students knowledge or their capabilities. We are actually going back in time by at least 6 years because it was in Year 2003 that the decision to teach science and maths in English was made.
And before you can even digest the latest flop from the goverment, it may flip again going by the survey that Da M is doing on his blog campaigning for the reinstatement of the policy formulated by him. If you are a book publisher, you would laugh all the way to the bank.

Social Kissing!

What is actually social kissing! I am too naive to understand this term. Is there also such a thing as charity kissing.

In times like this with the imminent threat of the fast spreading H1N1 virus, I think any form of hug or touch should be discouraged.

Free Seminars

Yesterday, I attended a free seminar at the Sime Darby convention hall conducted by Bursa Malaysia. Free seminars usually attracts a lot of participants especially those that are conducted by other organisers for a fee. Throw in free lunch and tea breaks, you will get a full house. At times like these with a gloomy global economic outlook, such seminars are most welcome.

Favourite Idol

The recent conclusion of the Wimbledon Tennis tournament was a big relief for me. My kid was rooting for Roger Federer to win an unprecedented 15th Grand Slam and the return to the N0. ! standing in the world rankings. Luckily, Nadal was injured and withdrew from Wimbledon or else she would be more tense as she hated Nadal. Nadal was a fine player but the fact that Nadal beat Federer at the last year's Wimbledon and French Open was too much for her to accept. At the recent final, no matter how much I wanted to watch the game, it was too tense for me when it became increasingly clear that it would be a very close match as Roddick was practically playing his best tennis todate. I tried to sleep but I couldnt as I would also like to know who the winner is. I sneak out to catch a glimpse of what the latest situation was. It was even with 2 sets each and leveled at 8 points in the decider. It was unbearable.
The next morning, when I saw the news flash on th TV that Federer won, what a hugh relief it was for me.

Charity Begins at Home

"Charity Begins at Home". Why you may ask? Thats where your closest relatives are. And these are the people who spent their lifetime looking after your interests. They tried to give you the best eventhough they may not be able to afford it. They let you eat first eventhough that is their favourite meal. They criticise you becoz they want you to give your best and you make use of the opportunites available to you. You may not be the best but at least you give it your best shot. Whose parents want their child to be outcasts and failures.
Mind you, the least you all could do is to show your appreciation and reciprocate in meaningful ways. Dont yell and scream that your teachers said you are responsible and we do not know how to appreciate your responsibility.
Firstly, those are your teachers and you are the pupil. If you are given a task or an assignment and if you do not submit within the timeline, you will be punished and worse still, you may be blacklisted and marked down. Every student will try to please their teachers unless you are one of those delinquent students.
We are your parents and we expect you to fulfil your fair share of your duties and responsibilites at home. What you do at school and what you do at home are two different issues and please do not linked the two of them together. Just because we are your parents, dont take advantage. We are advancing in age and our energy and stamina may not be enough to tackle all the household chores and responsibilites.
Do your fair share, put up your plans in writing for the future and crystallise them as you move along.
You need a plan to succeed and there is no such thing as planning for failure!

Woman (Wolfman!)

Your wife keeps complaining to you that your kid is lazy, uncooperative, selfish and irresponsible. You tell her why not tell it direct to the kid rather than complaining to you. She said that you are the 'man of the house' and its your duty to discipline the kid. Of course, you are not so stupid to pick up an immediate confrontation with the kid. You wait for the opportunity and then you strike!
You blast the kid with all the superlatives that your wife told you and add more punch to it. Your kid fought back and said that you are unreasonable with all the wild accusations. You retorted: " Ask your mommy and see!"
Your wife replied: " I dont know and I am not too sure!".
Talking about woman and you know why their drive their man crazy.
