The gomen must have thought about the repercussions if they went ahead with the caning of the lady for consuming beer in public.
If a precedent is being set, we would have witnessed countless numbers of high profile politicians, civil servants and cronies businessman being flogged in public, for drinking beer, whisky or brandy.
